On the first day of Chinese New Year, I did not want to pay through the nose for a Chinese New Year banquet with cheap ingredients with ‘auspicious’ names. So I headed to Loch Fyne after spotting a 40% off voucher (!!!) and having no takers, had the whole shellfish platter all to myself. I know, how ‘shellfish’ of me! I normally have this when I have company to help me finish it.
And lucky me, when I ordered the crab platter, the crabs the kitchen opened didn’t contain much meat so I had a free upgrade to the lobster (the lobster shellfish platter being worth £ 64.95)! I only paid £ 29.37 (£ 58.95 for the crab shellfish platter with 40% off) for it! That’s less than half-price! The platter consists of:
Served on ice – Loch Fyne® oysters, king prawns, crevettes
Served hot – Scottish mussels, clams, langoustines, squid
There was about six to eight of each type of shellfish and countless mussels swimming in the soup on the top tier.
And since it was Chinese New Year, I had to have an appropriately festive drink – Bucks fizz (champagne with orange juice).
After about one-and-a-half hour of devouring seafood non-stop, I managed to finish it and still had room for dessert. I had a creme brûlée, my favourite and Loch Fyne makes a good one.
how can i make a reservetion??
