The Town House used to have a totally bargainous lunch set menu. Due to increasing costs, they’ve stopped it. However, you can still get the three mains for the old, bargainous price of £ 10 if you like their Facebook page. It’s win-win situation for both the diner and the restaurant, I’d say!
I chose Fried calamari, coconut & coriander mayo as my starter. The batter was crisp and seasoned to the right amount, and calamari not tough. Don’t like the coconut in the batter but it was only a hint of it so it didn’t put off my enjoyment.
Mackerel was the seasonal fish so I had to have the Whole mackerel, new potatoes, salad, herb butter as my main. Fish was good (a whole fish!) and the oil had a hint of greens (it reminded me of this Chinese spinach dish) from the herbs and salad. New potatoes were crisp and fluffy on the inside like the Sunday roast ones.
The Chocolate nemesis, vanilla cream was my dessert. It’s a fudge-like chocolate mousse topped with cream. Reallly fudgy.
I thoroughly recommend The Town House!
