Had English afternoon tea as part of a friend’s hen party. Dinner afterwards was in Toro (post to follow).
Top tier: Profiteroles, Victoria sponge, and meringues.
Middle tier: Smoked salmon and cream cheese, egg (and cress separate as a garnish), cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches.
Bottom tier: Scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream.
I found this rather impressive but it still compare to my favourite. The cake that I despise so much because it’s so common in the UK – the damn plain Victoria sponge was rather well-made with a crumbly texture. And the profiteroles are yummy, too.
My benchmark for afternoon tea is Ben’s (in Malaysia) Australian-style afternoon tea with any cake from the display, quiches and marshmallows.
